Treatment After Circumcision

The recommended medical recommendations after circumcision are:

1. Take medicine immediately after circumcision. there is a time lag between the anesthetic running out and the tab/syrup working. Generally the child is a bit sick, fussy and cries during this pause (30 minutes after circumcision)
2. Circumcision wounds should not be exposed to tap water / bath water. Patients after circumcision may take a shower, with a wet towel (seko) & soap. but the circumcision wound should not be exposed to water for 1 week
3. Circumcision wound looks less attractive on 3-5 days after circumcision. Circumcision wounds will produce a yellowish fluid (secret) mixed with antibiotic ointment. On the 3-5th day the liquid will dry out yellow-brown, looks like a scab (crust). this is a normal body response
4. Apply the ointment just once a day. The ointment is applied with the fingers (preferably hand washing beforehand) or with a cotton bud. It is applied to the head of the penis and around the circumcision wound. preferably when the patient sleeps at night because the circumcision wound is very sensitive
5. Take antibiotics and anti-pain medications regularly according to the dose, until they run out
6. Circumcision wounds on the 7th day can only get water
7. Constraints after circumcision are generally bleeding and swelling. Bleeding after circumcision is considered harmless if the blood is a little (spots, dots), pink, does not flow. Bleeding is considered serious if the blood is heavy, profuse, red & hard to stop, dripping. Swelling generally occurs 1 minggu.  However, sometimes there are cases of swelling up to 2-3 weeks. Warm soaks & warm showers will help reduce swelling. If the swelling is large enough, the doctor will recommend additional anti-swelling drugs.
8. The suture will be absorbed by the body. Within 1 week the thread is absorbed by the body, and the outer knot will dry and fall off by itself.
